Chances are you’ll already know Isabel Ann Castro from her work as a prolific artist about city. Along with working freelance gigs, Castro is a co-organizer of the San Anto Zine Competition, and a part of the mind energy behind Santa Sucia, the 14-issue publication of native Latinx poetry and artwork, now archived in College Libraries and utilized in school rooms.
In December of 2020, San Antonio Journal reached out to Castro to see if she would design their February “Better of” cowl. On the time, she had simply been recognized with COVID-19. The value they had been providing was proper, so she took them up on it.
